The pursuit eventually ended when the fleeing Chrysler PT Cruiser rear-ended a Dodge Ram 1500 near the Gordon Drive and Stone Avenue intersection. The PT Cruiser rolled after hitting the Ram, which led to the PT Cruiser also hitting a Ford Edge. The crash caused disabling damage to both vehicles.

Thede, who was driving the PT Cruiser, died of injuries from the crash. The driver of the Ram was taken to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and then released. No injuries were cited for the driver of the Ford Edge. Thede was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the Ram was wearing their seatbelt and officials said that the seatbelt saved his life.

Wednesday night’s crash shut down Gordon Drive’s westbound traffic in the area where it occurred for an estimated four hours. Traffic has since reopened.
