Cattlemen’s banquet draws over 650 attendees Saturday 1

Doors to the new addition of the commercial building opened for the first time on Saturday, January 27 for the Ringgold County Cattlemen’s annual banquet. The group ushered in a crowd of over 650 people, who were excited to be among the first to occupy the upgraded community building they helped expand.

The renovation project was able to be completed thanks to a partnership between the Ringgold County Fair Board and the Ringgold County Cattlemen Association, along with many other partners and donors. During 2023, the local cattlemen members helped generate $71,500 in donations for the commercial building project, putting in countless hours to get the building up and going.

With plumbing, heating, and additional electricity freshly installed, the crowd was able to enjoy a comfortable evening waiting indoors prior to taking their seats. Guests were treated to all new tables and chairs, purchased for the commercial building by the Ringgold County Cattlemen.
The evening started at 4:00 p.m. with Morgan Thompson performing live music during happy hour.

Local students, representing Future Farmers of America (FFA), helped serve up prime rib dinners, bus tables, and wash dishes over the course of the night. In total, 42 prime ribs were served to the overflowing crowd.

The official program began after dinner, with accomplishments, scholarships and donations for the past year announced. The local chapter adopted a family for Christmas, and made a whole beef donation during beef month. Additionally, they raised $13,752 managing the food shack during the 2023 Ringgold County Fair, all of which went towards the commercial building fund. Collectively, the organization awarded over $7,500 in youth scholarships during 2023, and grilled 5,083 lbs of beef for various community events.

The 2023 beef queen, Kyleigh Conklin, was recognized for her service and Abby Larson was announced as the beef queen for 2024.
