The Mount Pleasant City Council voted on Wednesday to move to a new trash pickup system. The council decided to accept Lance Refuse and WEMIGA Waste’s contract for the new, three-tiered garbage pickup system.
Every “tier” offers a choice that certain families can make. The first option costs $19.75 for a 95-gallon container that gets picked up once a week. Two and three options each have a 65-gallon container. The second option is $16.75 per month and has weekly container pickups, whilst the third option has monthly container pickups for $10.
Mt. Pleasant law enforcement recommends that area residents purchase padlocks for their dumpsters to stop others from using them. The new system will go into effect in late March.
