A Grinnell 19 year old has been given a suspended jail sentence and fine for Harboring a Runaway, who Newton Police say was his girlfriend. The criminal complaint against Brian Gerald Nusbaum Jr. states he was found with the runaway around 10 a.m. January 17th of last year, in a room at Newton’s Super 8 Motel. Prior to this…Newton Police had told Nusbaum he would be charged if he was found with the juvenile girl. As part of a plea agreement…he pleaded guilty to Harboring a Runaway Against the Wishes of a Parent, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia charges were dismissed. District Associate Judge Steven Holwerda has imposed a 5 year No Contact Order to keep Nusbaum  from the minor. The rest of his sentence includes a suspended 90 day jail term, one year of probation, and an 855-dollar fine.
