The City of Newton has signed an Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Des Moines to perform at this year’s Newton Fest. Heath Alan Pattschull has been an active musician in the midwest for two decades. He got his start with The Blue Band, and has led his own band for the past 20 years. He’s also been an active sideman and studio musician, and has
opened for known acts such as BB King, Robert Cray, and The Doobie Brothers. He’s also represented Iowa four times in Memphis Tennessee at The International Blues Challenge. The Heath Alan Band will be performing at the Maytag Bowl Saturday June 8th, as part of Newton Fest’s free entertainment. The City Council has approved their 5-thousand dollar fee. Under the contract, the band will get 50-percent of that fee if their performance is canceled by weather more than 5 hours before they’re scheduled to take the stage. They’ll get 75-percent of the fee if the cancellation occurs less than 5 hours before.
