PALO ALTO COUNTY, Iowa (Iowa Media Wire) — A building at a Palo Alto County egg production and processing plant has been destroyed after multiple agencies were called to battle a fire.

According to the Palo Alto County Emergency Management, the fire was reported at Daybreak Foods, Inc. at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Daybreak Foods, Inc.

is located about 5 miles east of Graettinger.

The fire was contained to a single building and has been called a total loss, according to Palo County EMA’s coordinator, Kayla Hagen.

No injuries were reported during the fire.

Graettinger Fire Department Chief Brad Anderson said operations between all the responding departments went very well. Palo Alto EMA also wants to thank businesses and citizens who provided water, food, and snacks for the firefighters.

The Estherville Fire Department said that they were on the scene for roughly four-and-a-half hours and provided eight firefighters, an aerial, and a tanker.

Iowa Media Wire 9 reached out to Daybreak Foods, but they could not provide a comment.

Palo Alto County Emergency Management said that nine different fire departments were called to assist Graettinger’s fire department in battling the fire. The Estherville Fire Department said that these responding parties include: Graettinger Fire Department, Emmetsburg Fire Department, Ruthven Fire Department, Cylinder Fire Department, Wallingford Department, Estherville Fire Department Gruver Fire Department, Ringsted Fire Department, Fenton Fire Department, Graettinger Ambulance, Emmetsburg Ambulance, Palo Alto EMA, Palo Alo County Sheriff’s Department, Emmet County Sheriff’s Department, Pro Coop, and Iowa Lakes Electric Coop.
