A suspect is in custody following a bank robbery in Sanborn.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received from the Sanborn Savings Bank shortly after 1pm yesterday (Mon) reporting a bank robbery. Bank officials reported a black male entered the bank and handed a bank teller a note. The note said that this was a robbery and demanded cash. No weapons were displayed or referenced during the robbery.
An undetermined amount of cash was taken from the bank, and the subject left the scene on foot. As a precaution, schools, banks, daycares, and additional businesses in Sanborn were advised to go into lockdown status until areas were cleared by law enforcement.
At approximately 2:10pm Monday, the suspect, Del Martinnez Evans, Jr. was taken into custody without incident. Evans is charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, a class C felony…and 2nd Degree Theft, a class D felony. He was booked into the O’Brien County Jail on a 15-thousand dollar bond.
The investigation is still ongoing.
